ITINERARY

Option 1: Houayxay to Pakbeng
Your adventure begins in Houayxay, a small border town on the Mekong River. After meeting your English-speaking guide at the Lao immigration office, you navigate the visa process seamlessly. A shared minivan takes you to the slow boat pier, where your vessel awaits to carry you downstream through the heart of Laos.
By 10:30 AM, the boat departs, and your guide introduces you to Laos' rich culture and traditions. As the boat glides past lush green hills and riverside villages, you’re immersed in the serene landscape. Around noon, a traditional Lao lunch is served, showcasing regional flavors.
In the afternoon, the boat stops at a remote hill tribe village, where the Khamu or Hmong communities share glimpses of their daily lives. Afterward, you return to the boat and continue to Pakbeng, a tranquil riverside town. Here, you check into your hotel (not included) to unwind.
Option 2: Pakbeng to Luang Prabang
Your adventure begins at 8:00 AM. As the scenery transforms, the boat stops mid-morning at Ban Baw, a village known for its lao lao whiskey and intricate handicrafts. Residents share their heritage and traditions with pride.
Back onboard, another Lao lunch is served before reaching the Pak Ou Caves, a highlight of the trip. These sacred limestone caves hold thousands of Buddha statues, illuminated by flickering candles. After exploring, you’re treated to a refreshing roselle drink.
As the day winds down, the boat approaches Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage city. By 5:00 PM, you’ve arrived, ready to explore or continue your journey. Shared minivan transfers to your hotel are available for a smooth end to your adventure.
